The Committee is now calling for abstract submissions for the OT Mental Health Forum 2024 and welcomes submissions from OTs involved across the breadth of mental health practice and research.

    What to Submit?

    We encourage a variety of submissions showcasing the work that OTs are doing in Mental Health including but not limited to: 

    • Research findings or literature reviews
    • Practical applications of evidence-based practice
    • Practice notes and case studies of new innovations 

    Co-designed initiatives and projects involving partnerships with consumers, carers or other stakeholders are warmly encouraged with co-presenters very welcome.

    Abstract Mentoring

    The abstract mentoring program is suitable for those with limited to no experience in submitting a presentation for a conference. The goal of mentoring is to assist the author to present material clearly and concisely prior to submitting for the formal presentation review process. Mentoring may be useful for those who do not have access to support via their own networks or organisations, or for those whose first language is not English. To apply for mentoring, please email a draft copy of your submission to mentalhealthforum@otaus.com.au to be connected with a mentor. Submission mentoring closes on 14 May 2024.

    Presentation Types

    Oral Presentations

    Oral Presentations will be 15 minutes in total (a 12 minute presentation with 3 minutes for Q&A at the end of your presentation). Abstracts not selected for Oral Presentation will be considered for an ePoster Display. 

    ePoster Display

    ePoster Displays provide a static visual display and will be on display for the duration of the Forum. Full details of the format and display of ePosters will be detailed within acceptance notifications sent to nominated presenting authors. 

    Occupation Stations

    Occupation Stations will be 25 minutes in length and will engage participants in doing an occupation/ activity and the presentation will focus on the therapeutic use of this occupation/activity in practice and the theory supporting its use.

     

     

    *NEW* Workshop

    Workshops will be 60-90 minutes in length and involve a structured and engaging presentation on a key topic of research, program/strategy implementation or innovation. When providing a submission please provide any specific ideas for engagement or workshop facilitation style.

    Steps to Submit a Presentation

    Prepare your abstracts using the following headings

    For Oral and ePoster Submissions use:

    • Introduction/Rationale
    • Objectives
    • Method/Approach
    • Results/Practice Implications
    • Conclusion

    For Occupation Stations and Workshops use:

    • Introduction
    • Learning objectives
    • Educational methods
    • Relevance to occupational therapy knowledge practice

    Click on the button below to access the Call for Abstracts Portal. To access the portal, we ask you to please set up an account to assist in the management of your abstracts/s for the Conference. Select the Contact Information tab in the top menu and enter your contact details After entering your contact information, additional tabs will appear in your menu bar.

    Follow the instructions to submit your presentation, you will be required to provide the following details prior to submitting your presentation:
    • Title and Presentation Type
    • Method Type/Themes
    • Author names and Affiliations
    • Presenting Author Biography
    • Abstract Content

    Submit your abstract and check your inbox for your confirmation email
